In Laura’s Words

I write to shine a light on a dim or otherwise pitch black corner…to provide relief for myself and others. It’s the light that I am looking for. And the wonder it illuminates.
May my words land in your heart.

yours, Laura

I’m Moving my Writings to Substack

You’ve been wandering through the archives of my heart—years of ink and inquiry gathered here like driftwood from a long, steady tide. It is a beautiful thing to look back at where we’ve been, but I’d love for us to step into the “now” together. I’m moving the conversation over to Substack, a space where we can breathe a bit more deeply and engage in the real-time rhythm of our lives. If you’ve found a home in these words, I invite you to join me there; let’s continue this practice of seeking, truth-telling, and finding our way home to ourselves, one post at a time.

Summer Rules

I did it. I made a NO TV rule today. One week into summer and I was actively watching my children's brains melt as they stared at what my grandmother referred to as "the idiot box." I'm not proud of it. But maybe like you, I have work to do. I can't be on full mom...

Love on the Pond

This is on our pond.  My dad had just died, and we inherited his old rusty saw.  We went down and made ice carvings with the snow.  Our son said a few years after, "Mom, remember when we made Love on the pond?"  Makes me smile.

Quotes for the Writers and Dreamers

Here are some of the quotes on my writing desk that I refer to daily.  Hope they help.  Dreams can come true.  But it's in the creating where the true power lies.  yrs. Laura Paul Auster: “And that's why books are never going to die. It's impossible. It's the only...

Techies

In the last month of my life, I’ve re-found a part of myself that I’d forgotten existed:  I love techies.  Those behind-the-scenes souls who fly low under the radar and like it that way.  Designing sets, lighting stages, filming show offs, minding their soundboards. ...
