Haven Nest

Haven nest is a monthly membership with tips, prompts, live workshops and more every month.  Many of my current Haven students join Haven Nest as a way to continue their writing in a like-minded community, and receive the long-term support provided by the consistency of community.

Week 1: Presentation of the month’s Lesson and Writing Exercise (1 hour)

• Monday: I release a pre-recorded presentation of the month’s lesson, as well as present the month’s writing exercise.
• You’ll have 12 days to complete the writing exercise, and can complete it sooner too! They are designed to help illuminate the lesson and to teach you through the actual writing process. Optional but strongly suggested!
• You’ll be able to do the lesson on your own time. All of the lessons will be archived.

Week 2: Haven Nest “Hatching” time!

• Take time to WRITE!
• Get to know your community in the Haven Nest Community Feed.

o   Share about the lesson and writing exercises.

o   Share about your writing process and any projects you’re working on.

o   Share about your writing dreams!

o   Post links to your published pieces in blogs or other publications!

• Catch up on this month’s lesson.
• Watch any archived sessions that you’ve missed.
• Submit your writing exercise in the relevant Haven Nest Lesson Comments section to be considered for workshopping. (You can submit it any time during week 1 or 2, as long as it’s in by Friday at 5:00 MST of Week 2. Please indicate if you want feedback from the group at the top of your piece. If there’s no indication, we’ll assume you don’t want feedback. I won’t be able to comment on your pieces.)

Week 3: Monday Live Zoom Workshopping session with Q&A (1 hour)

• I choose a piece that has a lot that I can teach from, share my screen, and walk you through an editorial overview of the material, as well as comments. This session is full of craft teaching and is an excellent, hands-on, way for you to learn how to put your skills and voice to use on the page.
• There will be time for Q&A at the end of the session, focusing on the writing exercise.
• If you haven’t done the exercise, or wish to re-write it based on what you learned in the workshop, you can spend the rest of the week writing!
• The Live Zoom session is at 1:00 PM MST and will be archived.

Week 4: Monday Live Haven Nest Expert Q&A with Break Out Rooms (90 minutes)

• This is a chance for you to break into small groups and think-tank questions to ask the experts.
• Sometimes I’ll be the expert, and other times I’ll bring in authors and industry people to share their brilliance with you.
• The Live Zoom session is at 1:00 PM MST and will be archived.

After you join Haven Nest, you’ll receive a welcome email with your unique login details. Once you login, members will have immediate access to what’s called your “content library.”  Your content will grow as I deliver material such as writing prompts, inspirational videos, extra teaching, and guest experts. 

Each month’s premium content will be added as a lesson inside our private membership group portal and announced via email. Live workshops and Q&As are run via Zoom and will be archived in the portal for your convenience.

At this time, Haven Home online writing course is only offered twice a year.  As a member of Haven Nest, you’ll be the first to know when enrollment opens for Haven Home. 

Your account will be charged on the same day that you signed up each month (or year) for as long as you continue your membership. 

No you do not have to have a Facebook account. 100% of Haven Nest is hosted directly within the private membership site and you can interact with other members using the comments section in each post.  Members are always invited to communicate with one another in the comments section.  

-Haven Nest and Haven Home are designed to complement each other, while also standing on their own.

Haven Home is an eight-week course and community that teaches you how to write, with Lessons and Expert Calls.

Haven Nest is a monthly membership with content delivered in what’s called your Content Library. There is a monthly Lesson and Writing Prompt, a monthly Live Workshop of one writer’s response to the prompt, a monthly Expert Q&A, and time to “hatch” as a community, sharing in the writing life together. There are also add on classes, events, and exclusives to Nest members.

Your membership may be canceled at any time, no questions asked. Due to the digital nature of Haven Nest, refunds are not available, so be sure we’re a good fit for each other before your purchase a monthly or yearly plan. 

Haven Nest is a subscription service which is billed monthly or yearly depending on what you choose at checkout.

If you wish to cancel, you must do so before your next billing date which will be the same day each month. Please make note of the day of the month or year that your membership renews. Refunds are not granted once the payment has gone through. 

Member’s pricing gets locked in at the time they become a member. If you cancel and return in the future, you’ll be subject to whatever price the membership is at that time. 

This membership is for personal use, not for other writing coaches or clubs. Please do not share without my consent.
