Laura Munson The Wild Why Book Release Party

“I just wanted to thank you again for everything. I can honestly say this has been the most special experience I have ever had in my life. And it came at the perfect time. There really are no words to do it justice. That’s also what I told my husband when he asked how it went. My heart is so full.”

— Mary from AR

Does this sound familiar?

You keep meaning to write. Maybe you’ve kept a journal for years. Maybe you haven’t written anything in months — or decades. Maybe you have a story inside you that you’ve never quite figured out how to start. Maybe you’ve tried, and stopped, and tried again, and stopped again, and now you feel vaguely guilty every time you see a blank notebook.

You’re not stuck because you’re not a writer.

You’re stuck because no one ever showed you how to begin in a way that actually felt like yours.

Prompts haven’t worked. (Believe me, I understand — I’ve never been a fan of them either.) Waiting for inspiration hasn’t worked. Telling yourself you’ll start when life slows down definitely hasn’t worked.

What if the missing piece wasn’t discipline or talent or time — but a single, honest question?

This is for you if...

You don’t need credentials. You don’t need to have written anything before.

You need exactly what you already have: something inside you that needs to get out.

Laura Munson Signing This isn't the story

I know this feeling. I lived it.

Before the New York Times essay that went viral. Before the international bestseller published in eight countries. Before Haven and the Nest and fifteen years of teaching writers in Montana — there was just a woman with something she needed to say and no clear way to say it.

The thing that changed everything for me wasn’t a writing class. It wasn’t a prompt. It was learning to ask myself the right question — and then learning to write into the answer honestly, without the voice in my head telling me I wasn’t good enough or original enough or brave enough.

I’ve spent fifteen years teaching that practice to people who call themselves writers and people who would never dare to. I’ve sat across from doctors and mothers and executives and retirees and twenty-somethings who all showed up saying some version of the same thing: “I’m not sure I’m really a writer.”

And every single time, I want to say: You don’t have to be. You just have to have something you need to say.

This three-week experience is built on what I know works — for all of them, and for me.

    What We'll Do Together

    Week 1:

    Love the Questions

We start with the most powerful writing tool – your question. The one that’s already living inside you, maybe unnamed, maybe half-formed. I’ll show you how to find it, how to write into it, and how to quiet the Inner Critter — that voice that says you’re not a real writer, who do you think you are — so you can actually work.

    Week 2:

    Inner Terrain

This is where we get to the heart of it. I’ll teach you the difference between Outer Terrain and Inner Terrain — and why that difference is what separates writing that moves people from writing that stays in a drawer. We start small. A paperclip. The smell of fabric softener. The dust on a windowsill. You’ll be surprised what opens up.

    Week 3:

    Your Writer’s Statement

We close with intention. You’ll write a single sentence which will be your Writer’s Statement. This will serve as a compass for everything you write from here. I wrote mine fifteen years ago and my career followed from it. I’ve watched this practice change lives for thousands of students. I believe it will change yours.

How it works: Each week you receive a pre-recorded lesson — me, teaching the way I teach at Haven, from my studio in Montana. A few days into each week, a short personal check-in video from me arrives in your inbox. No live sessions. No deadlines. No falling behind. This is your practice, at your pace.

“Laura taught me that I am a writer. When I doubt that, I go back to what I learned and am able to access my voice.”
    — Brigitte P.
“Laura has an uncanny knack of getting right to the heart of your writing, including being able to root out your blocks and gifts.”
    — Betsy M.
“It was validating to hear from a published author that I have words that matter and scream to be shared with the world.”
    — Stephanie M.

A Few Things You Might Be Wondering

Do I need to be a writer?
No. The only requirement is that you have something you’ve been meaning to say. Laura has taught doctors, mothers, executives, and retirees who had never written a word for pleasure. They all found something here.

What if I’ve tried journaling or writing classes before and they didn’t stick?
That’s exactly who this is for. Laura’s approach is different because it starts with your question — not a generic prompt or a one-size-fits-all framework. When the writing is personal, it sticks.

How much time does this take?
Each lesson is designed to be taken in one sitting. The writing exercises range from ten minutes to twenty. You don’t need hours — you need a pen and a little courage.

How long do I have access?
    Lifetime access to all recordings.

    What happens after three weeks?
You’ll be invited to keep writing with Laura — in the Haven Nest, in a free conversation to explore the Haven Retreat in Montana, or simply on your own with the practice you’ve built. There’s no pressure to do anything. You’ll know what feels right.

“The number one thing I hear from people who want to come to Haven is: ‘I’m not really a writer.’ And I always want to say: you don’t have to be. You just have to have something you need to say. This three-week experience is for exactly that person. I made it for you.”
