The Haven II Writing Workshop is a five day workshop for book writers and alums of Haven I only
So many people who complete the Haven I Writing Retreat are inspired to write a book, or have one in progress, and are hungry for more Haven support. And I wondered: How can I continue to work with my Haven I alums while still walking the walk as a writer and not becoming a full-time editor? That’s when I developed the Haven Workshop Worksheet, and the Haven II Writing Workshop was born.
Haven II is a unique experience limited to 4-6 attendees and led in the author’s Montana farmhouse, in the tradition of the artist’s salon, located on 20 private and pristine acres.
About Haven II
PRIOR TO WORKSHOP
- The Haven Workshop Worksheet: filled out for each attendee, by each attendee, based on their first 30 pages, one-page outline, and 400 word summary, submitted one month prior to the workshop
- One hour phone consultation with Laura to help prepare your material
DAILY THROUGHOUT WORKSHOP
- Two three-hour classes with intensive feedback using the Haven Workshop Worksheet, guided by Laura
- Prompts to practice your pitch, talking points, and your book’s structure
- Group think-tanking of your book’s beginning, middle, and end
- The chance to read and receive new feedback
- Publishing industry Q&A’s
- Laura’s professional edit of your first 30 pages, one page outline, and 400 word summary

The Haven II Writing Workshop is limited to 6 people, all of whom are Haven alum.

You are very carefully working with a powerful protocol that you learn in your five days, and then continue to use with your group all the way to the end of a solid first draft! When I have the chance to edit Haven II books at the Haven III level, they are structurally sound, the characters three dimensional, the theme is well-stitched throughout, and the narrative moves!
